Shelley Bauer, LCPC

Shelley’s passion in therapy is to bring healing and wholeness to those wounded by all trauma, specializing in religious trauma and sexual abuse recovery. She also enjoys helping couples learn to communicate more effectively at every stage of their relationship, as well as working with families who are experiencing crisis. Shelley’s greatest joy is in helping clients identify their value as unique human beings in this world.

She uses narrative-based trauma recovery methods, as well as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and REB (Rational Emotive Therapy). Overall, her approach is based on each client’s needs. She earned her MS from Illinois State University in Clinical / Counseling Psychology. She is a certified Spiritual Director and certified in Spiritual Transformation through the Transforming Community work of Ruth Haley Barton. Shelley is trained in sexual abuse crisis counseling and worked for Stepping Stones (YWCA) as a crisis counselor for several years. She is trained and certified in Narrative Focus Trauma Care through The Allender Center at The Seattle School. She has also served in several pastoral roles in the past 25 years. Shelley is a certified teacher and trainer in all things Enneagram.

Shelley is mom to 4 grown sons, their amazing partners and has 3 astonishing grandkids. Born in California, she grew up in Phoenix, AZ and is glad to live in a place where there are seasons. In her free time, she enjoys reading, walking, traveling, cooking for friends and family, learning and especially, time with her grandkids!
